W.F. Homeyer founded his oil company in Gainesville, Georgia in 1933 as an Amoco distributor serving the North Georgia area. The name didn't come until later. Several years on, Homeyer flew around the world on the famed Pan Am Clipper airplane — and was so impressed that upon returning he renamed his small oil company Clipper Petroleum in its honor. A brand born from one man's flight of enthusiasm, and built to last.
