Three magnolia blossoms on a red band, and a fourth in the navy center. Magnolia Petroleum was a Dallas company selling into Texas and the Southwest, and it took the state flower of Mississippi and Louisiana as its mark — a piece of Deep South imagery running on pumps across oil country.

Printed on a Gildan 18500 heavy blend hooded sweatshirt — 8 oz cotton-poly, classic fit, double-lined hood with a color-matched drawcord and a front pouch pocket. Tubular knit with no side seams. Tear-away label. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low.

Magnolia sat inside the Standard Oil of New York orbit, which puts it in the same corporate family as the Mobiloil Gargoyle — two marks that could not look less alike coming out of the same tree. The blossom eventually gave way to the flying red horse as Socony-Vacuum consolidated its branding, which is why intact Magnolia signage carries the premium it does today. This design comes from a 1980s silk screen ceramic reproduction of the original graphic, part of a set that has been in the family collection for decades.

The perfect gift for the Texas collector, the sign hunter who prefers a flower to a mascot, the restorer with a Southwest-delivered project, the dad who remembers Magnolia stations before the horse, and anyone who likes a gasoline logo that could pass for botanical illustration.

The Faded Label Co. — keeping the golden age of American roadside art alive, one product at a time.
