Two grade designations appear here: 400, which was Shell's number for the fuel, and DRY, which mattered a great deal to anyone fueling an aircraft. The small yellow pecten tucked into the lower right is the later flattened version of the mark, notably different from the shaded natural shell on the earlier Shell Petroleum Products sign. Same company, two eras, two very different drawings of the same object.
