Collection: Dog-On Good Gasoline — Vintage Scottie Dog Petroliana Art

In the 1930s the Scottish Terrier was the most popular dog in America. FDR had one named Fala. Scottie dogs were on everything — jewelry, ceramics, textiles, toys, and advertising art from coast to coast. When The Petroleum Products Co. of Kansas chose a bold, strutting Scottie as the face of their Dog-On Good Gasoline brand, they knew exactly what they were doing.

Dog-On Good. A 1930s family-friendly substitute for an expletive that somehow became the perfect tagline for a regional Kansas gasoline brand. Funny, charming, completely inoffensive, and impossible to forget.

The circular badge — the Scottie dog center stage, Kansas Made curved along the bottom, The Petroleum Products Co. arcing across the top — is one of the most beautifully executed pieces of American commercial art from the golden age of gasoline. The silk screen artist who pulled these prints rendered every hair on that dog with hand-cut screens. That level of craft deserves to be remembered.

Every product in this collection carries that same design — the same dog, the same badge, the same Kansas pride — on the things you use every day.

Good labels never really fade.
